The KlamaTh Union l-ligh School Pelican's T962 football season was a good one. Many people, looking aT The record, would say ThaT Three wins, five losses, and a Tie is noT a good record. The Top Ten of The sTaTe prep powers also lisTed Pelican opponenTs GranTs Pass,, Soufh Salem, Corvallis, and Marshfield. Leading The Pels This year was senior co-capfain Ron l-lifchcock, who was selecfeal as MosT Valuable Player. Rick l-lorn, auarTerback, was chosen The MosT OuTsTanding Back, and John English, The MosT Oufsfanding Lineman. Tackle KenT PuckeTT goT The nod as The MosT lmproved Player. ln league play KlamaTh finished second only To Medford. The Tornado defeafed all foes for a 4-O league record while The Pels finished second wiTh a 2-1-1 record ahead of GranTs Pass wiTh 2-2. Coach Williams was pleased wiTh The resulTs and feels ThaT nexT year will prove To be even more successful.
