Delta Psi chapter of Theta Chi fraternity had a number of goals when it came to the University of Kansas in the fall of 1980. The first of these goals was realized in April of 1982 when the colony was re-installed as a chapter of Theta Chi. The second, and maybe the most important, was attained last August when Delta Psi Chapter moved into its new home at 1011 Missouri Street. The house, located near Memorial Stadium, is home for 15 members of Theta Chi. The remaining 35 members of the house live in various apartments around Lawrence, many of which are located near the house. But while some goals of the chapter have been reached, Theta Chi continues its push to establish itself in the Greek community. Members are involved in numerous activities including SUA, Homecoming, Inter-Fraternity Council, Student Senate, and the KU water ski team. Theta Chi has made gigantic strides in the past three years and, indeed, the past has been pleasant. With the h elp of a strong membership and a consistently good pledge class, it appears that the future looks just as bright for the men of Theta Chi. 289

Housemoms Every fall, they load up their cars and go to college. They move into three-story homes covered with ivy and surrounded by white pillars and rolling lawns. They attend teas, formals, and functions, even grabbing each other and smiling for the party pic man. Some have been here for so many years that they quit counting and others are just passing through on their way to Florida. Every housemom has their own story to tell of where they came from and why they are here but they all seem to agree that being a housemom is a special way of going back to college. Her friends think she is bonkers. And her mom still asks her what clothes she is taking when she goes to school. But she loves it. Pat Breckenridge thinks that being a housemom for 85 Phi Delts is great. Being in a sorority I knew what to expect. The songs they sing now were the ones I heard when I was in the house, she said. She remembers her housemom at the Kappa Alpha Theta house at Indiana as always dressed in black and somewhat removed from the house. But Breckenridge breaks the mold. She really knows her boys. She never misses a party and is usually one of the last ones to leave. Every day, she and her dog, Utah, and the neighborhood cat, Betsy, take a walk to Potter Lake. She paused as she hugged Utah around the neck and said, At graduation, Utah and I sit up on the hill, so that we get a bird ' s eye view. 290
