Mar lane Lewis who works at the T ler Courier Times Y I , was chosen as the outstanding D. E. sludent of this year. Tommy Ward works part time at the Tom Thumb store. Ioann Kinsey works at the Retail Merchants Association. L Q Distributive Education is a vocational pro- gram designed to train a student to take the merchandise from farms and factories and through our distribution system deliver it to the American consumer. This is a training course in three fields: Retail, Wholesale, and Service occupations. D. E. students have three main objectives l. To Learn, 2. To earn, and 3. To prepare for the future. Class time is divided equally between indi- vidual and group instructions. Students put to practical application on-the-job things they study in school. In addition to Distribu tive Education in Ir. and Sr. years students carry the required courses in High School graduation and College entrance. There are 39 D. E. students in Tyler High. These girls and boys are employed in Tyler where they follow an organized training plan. Miss Ludie Mae Harnson received her B. A. from Baylor University and her M. A. from East Texas State.
