Art ls . . Art is an area which interests many students. This creative department is headed by Mr. Robert Adams. All students interested in an art field must first complete one year of Arts and Crafts. This is an exploratory course in which students are given the opportunity to learn basic fundamental concepts and skills used in the fine arts and crafts areas. Students may then progress to one of the special areas they have previously studied, such as ceramics, drawing, jewelry, painting. printmaking, and visual design. 0 Visual Design is a course that will develop fundamental skills used in advertising. The course also provides insight into the psychology used in influencing consumers. Studio Art is a course that provides the student with the opportunity to concentrate on and utilize all of his skill in one of the many art fields at Jeff High School. A Cappella practices their breathing exercises during class. Mr. Branson threatens students. Music is a part of everyone's life. There are all types of music to suit all kinds of people. Jeff High School has been fortunate enough to have one of the best music departments in the state. The head of the choral department is Mr. Richard Jaeger. Working with him in the choral department are Mrs. Jean Branson and Mr. Gary Branson. Together, these three musicians work with students to produce many top performing groups which serve both the school and the community. The main performing choral groups are A Cappella Choir. Voices of Jeff, Swing Choir, and Varsity Singers. As sophomores, students are basically trained in sight reading, thus producing better perfor- manceslwhen they are juniors and seniors. The instrumental department is made up of the many bands and the orchestra. Heading this fine department and instructing the orchestra is Mr. Thomas Dick. Mr. Gary Wishmeyer is the director of the Broncho Marching Band, which performs at many community activities. parades, and home football games. The music department at Jeff High School, besides its excellent facilities, is very well staffed. Students learn a lot about music and performing. Most of all. however, they learn how to cooperate and have fun with a group of people their own age. For these reasons. those of us at Jeff feel our music department is one of the best. l i Bob Martin gets down to the beat during orchestra
