' Alamo Stadium, Oct. 17: Capitalizing on Jefferson ' s mis- cues, the MacArthur Brahmas beat the Mighty Mustangs 23-0 in the district opener for both squads. Strictly an of- fensive battle, Mac scored on a Jeff safety, a misjudged punt, and a Mustang fumble on the Hosses ' own 15-yard line. Even though the Brahmas dominated the scoreboard, the Mustang defense held Mac on three goal-line stands. Proving themselves on the Mustang secondary were Fred Ekmark, Ronnie Thompson, Pat O ' Connell, and Joe Nobis. Sharing the spotlight as offensive standouts for the game were How- ard Smith and John Mosley. Red, blue. We ' re for you! Alamo Stadium, Oct. 23: A bad snap In the fourth quarter, downed in the Jeff end zone for 2 points, proved to be the margin of victory for the Alamo Heights Mules in Jeff ' s second district game. This 2-0 victory was the first setback handed the Mus- tangs by the Mules in 17 clashes. This game was strictly a defensive battle, but the Mustang miscue and the 2 decisive points were just too much for the Hosses to overcome. Defensive standouts were Larry Swanson, Joe Nobis, and Pat O ' Connell. Tom Shields, Howard Smith, and Jimmy Sherrod were the offensive workhorses In the Mus- tang ' s futile attempt to score a victory. Hello, Dolly!
