Huntington Park, which is located in the middle of the suburbs can still hear the ocean roar. Former graduate, Manuel Almaguier, who formed the surf club here at HP shows that you can still Hang Ten even though you live in the city. The meeting place for the club is the YMCA which is located just a few blocks away from our campus. The surf club meets every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. to decide where the surfing will be done that following weekend. No equipment is necessary to become a member. All you need is a little balance mixed with courage for the members will give their time and effort to teach newcomers the Ways of the Waves. When no surfing is done, the club takes advantage of our city location by using the concrete for skateboarding which is a substitute for surfing. All in all, the club is well organized and we have learned that surfing is not just for the beach locals. M: El Maggie Perez

Aside from being ,lunior Class President, Paulita is a very spirited and patriotic student. She is a member of the tennis and badminton teams. She attended most of the school games to root for H.P.'s mighty Spartans. Paulita reveals that working with Ms. King, the Junior Class Sponsor, is great. Paulita enjoys her office tremendously and is planning to run again next year. Paulita has done a magnificent job supervising the Junior Class sponsored bake sale. She has also planned other activities such as a snow trip, a dance, and the participation in the Powder Puff game.
