The Vickery-Hillcrest feminine basketmball team of '42 displayed great skill this year by taking 10 out of 16 of the conference games that were played. This Panther girlsg team scored a total of 320 points to their opponents total of 313. Although very much cooperation and smoothness in working the ball on the part of the whole team was shown, this team produced several stars which will long be remembered in the minds of the students of V. H. H. S. The high-point pantheress was Doris Green with a total of 249 points. She broke the records of any individual scoring in the Vickery-Hillcrest history. Qn the other half of the court, Mozell Blakely, was the star guard and displayed much skill and effectiveness. The Vickery-Hillcrest High School and community are very proud of this team who added history to our school which will long be remembered. - The Vickery-Hillcrest Boys' Basketball team won first place in our district this year. They lost only two games this season, and we hope our boys? luck will continue so that they may go to Austin. The high-point man for the season was Hollis Hogan with a total of 203 points. Out of the faithful 5 who marched to Victory this year, Ben Gossett is the only one left behind for next year's team.How- ever, that does not mean that the rest of the team will not be back to support next yearfs team. We can never forget 429s team and their excellent record. We also cannot forget the coaching of Mr. Mitchell. While the crowds roared, He sat alone seeming to be entirely at ease. . Now that we have come to the end of the season for both boys and girls, we find'that the Boys? team stands in first place, while the girls are not far behind, in 2nd place. HURRAH!!! HURRAHE!! ff NX
