PAULINE SMITH NIR. DWIGHT W. SERGENT Sponsor Sponsor Class History One sunny day in September of 1951 tour girls and nine boys gathered together to start their high school careers. They were as follows: Bill Button, Donnie Carlstrom, Willard Breshears, Dale Bigler, Marvin Chaney, Lavern Hood, Kenneth Tollivar, Vernon House, Bob Turner, Sharon Meier, Jannath Williams, Pat Ahrens, and Trilla Bastion. A short time after school started Bob Turner left school and Donnie Carlstrom moved to California, leaving only eleven to finish the year. The courses we took our Freshman year were mathematics and science under Miss Whitby, Citizenship under Mr. Farnham, English 1 under Mr. Jackson, and band and chorus Lmder Miss Robertson. During the summer we lost another of our students, Trilla Bastion, who got married. That left us with just ten. There were two changes in teachers our Sophomorelyear. Mr. Thomson took over as superintendent from Mr. Akars who moved to Hollister and Mrs. Thomson became history teacher replacing Mr. Farnham. Subjects taken during the Sophomore year were English II and speech under Mr. Jackson, world history under Mrs. Thomson, biology under Miss Whitby, agriculture under Mr. Thomson, and band and chorus under Miss Robertson. During the vacation that summer, Kenneth Tollivar moved leaving us six boys and three girls. But at the first of school Shirley Ann Palmer moved here from Kansas City bringing our class number back up to ten. Just before Christmas, Vernon House moved to Tunas. - There were two changes in our teachers that year. Mr. Sergent replaced Mr. Thomson and Mrs. Smith took over for Mrs. Thomson. Our subjects were: English III and American problems under Mr. Jackson, Missouri History under Mr. Sergent, health and occupations under Miss Whitby, and typing, shorthand, band, and chorus under Miss Robertson. Our play, the pop stand, the donkey ballgame, etc, earned us enough money to take the seniors to Rockaway Beach. The name of our play was The Uninvited Jester under the direction of Miss Whitby, our sponsor. The start of our Senior year found the same old bunch back of five boys and four girls. Two more changes in teachers occured during the summer.. Mr. Rozell and Mrs. Roberts took the places of Miss Whitby and Mr. Jackson. Our subjects are: bookkeeping under Mr. Rozell, school publications under Mrs. Smith, sociology and geometry under Mr. Sergent, American History and agriculture under Mrs. Roberts, and chorus under Miss Robertson. Our sponsors this year are Mrs. Smithnand Mr. Sergent. Under Mrs. Smith's guidance we presented our play The Funny Brats . lt was very good, we thought Class Will We the Senior class of '55 Hermitage High School having the desire to be remembered after we leave H. H. S., leave some of our most valuable possessions to the unclerclassmen, with the hope that they will make good use of them. Therefore, we the 1955 Seniors, do vow and declare this document to be our last will and testament. To Mr. Rozell from the Senior class we leave him nine good ball players who can hit their free shots. To Miss Robertson we leave our beautiful voices to her chorus. To Mr. Sergent we leave him all the pink slips the Seniors didn't get. To Mrs. Roberts we leave a quiet study hall. To Mrs. Smith we leave better behaved Seniors. To Delores, Jannath leaves her ability to be quiet. To Doyle, Marvin leaves his ability to get along with Miss Robertson. Bill leaves his nothing to anybody who can get it. Lavern leaves his ability to swipe milk to Johnny. Dale leaves his ability to sing to Shelby. Pat leaves her ability to get excuses to go to town to Mary Lou. Willard leaves his ability to feed Sergent a big line to Walter. Shirley leaves her ability to go visit other schools at noon and get back on time to Betty McPheeters. Shar on leaves her ability to get into meanness and get caught at it to Phyllis. A To the next year Senior class we leave them the ability to swipe pop from the Juniors and hide it in the dressing room. ' 53526 fwngfg 7914.0- EAWF .ywzww J W' Class Prophecy This is station H. H.
