Senior Class Will y We, the senior class of '54 of Hermitage High School, City of Hermitage, County of Hickory, and State of Missouri, being few in number but as sound in knowledge and mind as befitting a senior, do hereby, after much deep consideration make' our last will and testament. To which we appoint the superintendent of said school as sole executor. To our school from which we prepare to depart, we leave our class picture. To the members of our beloved faculty, we leave the knowledge of a job well done and the satisfaction which it will bring. To our superintendent Mr. Dwight Sergent, we leave a big package of good humor which we believe he will need in dealing with next years seniors. To Miss Whitby, we leave a sincere wish for a basketball team with plenty of hustle. To Miss Robertson we will the words: Carry on, exclusively to replace her well worn practice and concentration . To Mrs. Smith, we leave steady nerves and an ironclad stomach for her home economics girls' cooking and sewing. To Mr. Jackson our favorite and only sponsor, we leave the fond memories of the dozens of themes we have written for him. To the junior class we will our dignity and senior privileges, ready excuses and ability in arguments good, bad, long or short, and hope that they use them to a better advantage. To the sophomore class, we leave the cozy little nooks, unfinished themes, and our books with the clever verses inside. But most im- portant we leave the right to pick on freshmen in or out of season. The items which follow are our own valuable possessions that we hope are remembered as such and accepted with feeling befitting them. Richard Byrd, our senior president leaves his flat top haircut to Shebly Frank. Richard hopes he keeps it as short as he did. Donald Pitts leaves his ability to get to go to town any time of day to Bill Button, who in a year's practice, will be as good as our senior genius. Dale McPheeters, wills his ability to skip study hall and get 1500 words, to Willard Breshears. Jim Brown, leaves his desire to become a great basketball player, to the highest bidder.

Senior Class History Once upon a time long ago in the month of September 1950, ten bright eyed students gathered together in the halls of H.H,S. These five boys and five girls were to compose the freshman class. Soon after the beginning of the term one of the girls, June Pitts, left thus making nine ninth graders. The nine were: Shirley Green, Ellen Forehand, Peggy Lipe, Marie Browning, Richard Byrd, Jim Dickenson, Jimmie Brown, Donald Pitts, and Dale McPheeters. The officers for the year were: President - Marie Browning, Vice- President - Richard Byrd, Secretary and Treasurer - Ellen Forehand, Council Member - Peggy Lipe, Sponsor - James Evans. Subjects for the freshman year included general agriculture taught by the superintendent Karl Akars, English I with James Evans, world history under Jack Franham, general math with Edith Whitby, and band and chorus directed by Mamie Lou Robertson. Successfully completing our courses and receiving credit we passed on to the sophomore grade. As sophomores we gained another boy, Cecil Dugan making ten members for our tenth year of schooling. Officers for the sophomore year were President - Donald Pitts, Vice-President - Peggy Lipe, Secretary and Treasurer - Richard Byrd, Council Member - Jimmie Brown, Sponsor - Otis Jackson. There was only one change in the faculty as Otis Jackson replaced James Evans who went into the service. General science, health, Missouri history, algebra, intro. to music, citizenship, advanced agriculture, and English II, band and chorus: were the subjects for this year, 1951 and we are now upperclassmen. This is the year of our class play Take It Easy and the pop stand, magazine subscriptions, and raffles to make the money necessary to take the annual junior and senior trip. The class lost Cecil Dugan making it nine again. This year officers were: Jim Brown - President, Dale McPheeters - Vice-President, Marie Browning - Secretary and Treasurer, Richard Byrd - Council Member and Mr. Otis' Jackson as Class Sponsor. In 1951 Mr. A. Cal Thompson was superintendent and taught biology Mrs. Thompson taught American history, typing and shorthand with Miss Robertson, and speech and English IV under Mr. Jackson. As seniors we total seven, five boys and two girls, as Shirley Green and Ellen Forehand left the class. Senior class- officers were President - Richard Byrd, Vice-President - Jim Dickenson, Secretary and Treasurer -Marie Browning, Council Member - Dale McPheeters, Sponsor - Mr. Otis Jackson. Dwight Sergent now is superintendent and teaches Missouri history and economics. Home economics a new department beginning this year is taught by Mrs. Edward Smith, secretarial practice with Miss Robertson health with Miss Whitby, and English III with Mr. Jackson.

.Tim Dickenson leaves his ability to flatter teachers while in study hall to Philip Sherman. Peggy Lipe wills her chewing gum with a built in pop and the loudest voice in the pep squad to Betty McPheeters. Marie Browning, leaves her ability to foul and get caught at it, to Joyce Mackey. Any discarded pencils, chewing gum wads, excuses we brought from home and have left behind, we leave to the lucky one who finds them. In witness thereof we attach the signatures of the class of '54, WJJM ,lf 9 ,ZZCZL B4-eb 7714 1321- 1
