Under the direction of Peggy MacNary, Secretary of Student Activities, Dave Barter, Undersecretary, and Miss Georgia Ander- sen, sponsor, plans were made for events that would meet the many needs of a large student body. The social calendar included the winter formal and the spring semi-formal, innumerable soc-hops, dress dances, all school parties, and square dances. Each noon many students enjoy the activities in the social room. The social department not only provides an opportunity for students to enjoy themselves but also teaches the basic principle of citizenship and cooperation. In planning the many events students learn to Work together toward a common goal. Hammond High's social program is a success. It will be so only as long as students are willing to make it succeed. Members of the student activities unit are working on posters and plans for a dance. Sixty-eight
