Juris Kauls sinks one for the Pipers. l 1 ASKETBALL The Hamline University round-ballers fought to a quite successful finish in third place in the M.I.A.C. with a con- ference record of nine wins and seven losses. Freshman Al Frost added a shooting spark to a senior-weighted team. Big Fred Schmiesing dominated state and conference scoring in his final year at Hamline scoring 575 points in 23 games, an average of 25 points per game. Fred held a 61 'Zn field goal average and an 18.1 average per game in rebounds to hold top honors in the conference and to place him in fourteenth place in N.C.A.A. small college statistics in both categories. Schmiesing received honor- able-mention all-American for his fine showing this season. Big Fred will be greatly missed next year as will the four other graduating seniors, in a year of rebuilding. ll
