H it f -X p' Sponsored by FRENCH CLUB French Club Learns A bout C ustoms, Lje Students from France, who are attend- ing school in Little Rock, spoke to the French Club concerning their life in France. Among the speakers were Pasqual Teter- noire, who attends Central, and Jacques Pierini, a student at Parkview. Photographs and postcards of their country were helpful to students in visually experiencing a different culture. French Club participated in the Home- coming activities by designing a float for the parade. A Volkswagen was decorated to represent a Frenchman. In January, Tony Hopson spoke to the French Club about various French wines and cheeses. French Club members sam- pled different cheeses at the meeting. Any student enrolled in a French class was eligible to ioin the French Club. Mme. Marion Hulsey was the faculty sponsor. Spanish Club Has Vargas At Meeting Rosemary Vargas, an exchange student from Bolivia, was one of the speakers for the Spanish Club. Learning more about Spanish speaking peoples around the world was the main obiective ofthe Spanish Club. Speakers from various Spanish speak- ing countries, slides, postcards, and Span- ish foods were helpful in understanding the cultures of Spain and Latin American countries. El Circulo Espanol met once a month during the school year. Any Spanish lan- guage student was eligible to ioin the club. Mrs. LaVon Yepez and Mrs. John Short were the faculty sponsors. I rtclust. Arts Place First At Exhibition The Industrial Arts Club participated in several field trips around the city observ- ing employment opportunities in the con- struction field. One of the activities of the Industrial Arts Club was to participate in the State Drawing Exhibition in May. During several meetings, the club observed films showing different activities performed in industry. The club met on the fourth Friday of each month. Faculty advisors were Mr. David Patterson and Mr. James Matthews. Interact Club Chooses A ll Girl fjicers For the first year, the Interact Club was run by all female officers. The fact that the majority of the club was girls was also unprecedented. The new trend began last year when girls were invited to become members of the club for the first time. Most of the activities and service pro- iects of the club were carried out along with the Key Club. These proiects included assisting in the preparation of the Home- coming ceremonies, the Homecoming dance, and a tour of the Children's Hospi- tal during the Christmas season. The annual spring float trip down the Buffalo River was planned along with the Key Club. Laura Burford, president, spoke to the Rotary Club on the current activities at Hall.
