Everyone has been very active in each of the clubs with fund raising activities such as bake sales. Both clubs are trying to raise enough money to have a special ethnic dinner. The Clubs also attempt through field trips to gain insight into the culture they are studying. As an example, Pictured Below, is the Spanish club visiting a Spanish museum in the city. No group pictures were available because of Galileo's split schedule-split campus but everyone is pitching in to make this a successful term. Ml vfffrgm Q The Chinese Culture Club started off this year with 40 active members under the leadership of Thomas Shea. Some major projects were: Chinese translation in an elementary school during the Teacher and Parent Conference meetingsf setting up a Christmas party for 700 kids at Holiday lnnf organizing a Chinese New Year assembly for the schoolf and repainting the benches in the Courtyard in honor of the School's Rededication. Some social activities included picnics, bar- becues, and dances. The Club concluded the year with a Chinese banquet. l l

opportuniti ilk The Career Center hopes to serve the students of Galileo in six areas: 1 . Speakers Forum: invite speakers from government industry, labor, and the pro- fessions to our school. 2 . Career Guidance: serve as an information clearing house relative to careers and their relevance to school programs. 3 . Job Placement: serve to coordinate the job placement function at Galileo . Curriculum Development: to Students from Electronics and Physics classes visiting NASA at Sunnyvale. 4 - develop units to be included in various subject matter areas . We Feature The TeaCher : a weekly half-hour program in which one teacher discusses his field with a group of interested students . 6 . Career Goals: an orientation program for all 10th graders . 5.
