L I 3 41:3 'i 211 rf.. Tf ..I'f ,f 1999- ' The sophomore, junior, and senior girls at Fountain Valley experienced a new form of Physical Education this year. The elective system was put into effect after being abandoned two years ago. This elective system let the girls choose the sports and activities they needed to fulfill certain graduation requirements. Freshman girls still followed the older system where teachers planned the activities. But all classes never failed to begin with those dreaded exercises, and cries of pain iilled the air as girls attempted to do sit-ups and push-ups. Running the mile, climbing the rope, chinning 50 times were all preliminaries designed to keep the boys in condition. But after that exercise routine was out of the way, the boys were coached in a variety of sports: football, baseball, tennis, swimming, and more. Besides the rules of the games, the boys were in- structed in more sportsman-like conduct and the competitive spirit was instilled. M sele Grows 263 f
