It wos mondotory thot the student driver be conscientious of everything he did while driving becouse the instructor wos pqying ocute qttention. He wos pre- pored to mork o quick X for not odjust- ing the seqt before qdjusting the mirror or for forgetting to check o blind spot on o deserted roqd. ln this course, students leomed the technique of defensive driving, better known os i'not getting hit. instructors lectured obout bosic moneuvers, but uhqnds-on experience, which involved wotching for drivers who constqntly brqked or put on their tum signols too eorly, wos the best woy for students to leorn. Off the rood recovery wos onother technique thot eoch student worily tried for himself. Kip Green odmitted, 'll don't like Drivers Ed, but l'Il be glqd when l get my license. Getting the license proved to be on unnerving experience for most sopho- mores. Before octuolly toking the test, the overqge sophomore wos subjected to horror stories obout people driving into telephone poles or foiling the test becouse they hod forgotten to weor o seot belt. Pqrollel pqrking is hord becouse they don't hove lines to mork it, odmit- ted Brion Patton. Though students were reviewing porollel porking techniques in their minds os they orrived ot DlvlV, the most difficult moneuver required in the test wos moking q complete stop qt o stop sign. When the test wos completed the victorious newly-licensed driver roced home beoming from eor to eor. Sophomores must remember their de- fensive driving techniques, especiolly qt this moment of extreme excitement, be- couse unexpected occidents moy occur. Perhops driving should be re- served forthe upperclossmen. - L.C. 8a CB. Vi i I l l I i l i l i i l I l if E 0 Il. L I ll li I
