CLASS HISTORY fCont1nued from page twenty twol berng older we were less ambtttous and mventtve Our class treasury rnstead of lncreasrng as IS the common practlce seemed to stay at the same level Sponsormg a George Washlngton Semt formal as a measure to earn money we agaln ended 1n the def1c1t due to causes beyond our control As February rolled around we became truly excrted and energetlc because the ttme had come when we were to have a chance to dtsplay our acttng abrlrty The play The Sunshlne Twlns havmg been chosen the cast commenced work dlltgently under the able dlrectlng of Mr Gtllette to perfect thetr parts tn preparatlon for the great performance When the day arrtved after stx weeks of practtce The Sunshme Twtns really became a great success Soon after thts we learned that perhaps the Sen1or class could and would take a trtp somewhere so we began to labor tedlously to ftll our treasury rn readrness for the great event when tt became our turn About the ftrst of May we remembered that we as Iuntors had to present a Iunror Sen1or Prom wtth the decoratlons orchestra and all the tnmmtngs Ustng a Sprlng theme we truly perfected 1t w1th a beautrful runntng waterfall constructed w1th the asslstance of Mr Swank and a large golden moon sh1n1ng above tn the starry sky Everyone seemed to enJoy 1t espectally we many havlng never attended a formal dance before When September agarn rolled around so many had left us that we lost Wllh regret one able advrs or Mr Swank and were thus left w1th Mr Grllette and Mrs Zavltz who had stuck by us through thrck and th1n For our last and most lmportant year we elected Don Lockwood Presldent Barney Ball VICQ Prestdent Harr1etCanf1eld Secretary and Eltzabeth Smtth Treasurer Then we really began to exert ourselves and to try to expand our treasury whlch was greatly rn need of expansron 1f we were to have an annual or a trrp protects at once Ftrst the Sen1or play entttled HIS Lovtng Nephews went off wtth a bang agatn a success w1th the help of Daddy Czlllette and to top rt off we sponsored a chtcken supper w1th roast chlcken mashed potatoes and all the other del1c1ous trtmmmgs One day the school truly seemed dressed up ftt to k1ll and wherever you went you had a feeltng that a party or somethlng s1m1lar was brewlng especlally among the Senxors ln reallty 1t was the Sen tors aga1n at the bottom of somethtng Th1s sunny October day the photographers had really arrtved and every Sen1or IH h1s Sunday best was experlenctng h1s great moment rn front of the camera When two weeks later the proofs arrlved everyone went w1ld wonderlng 1f he really looked llke that Ohs were heard throughout the school but soon everythlng settled back to normal at least for the present Agarn as Xmas came near we organlzecl ourselves for another Semt formal whrch thts t1me proved very successful Our class Treasury under lock and key now had really rncreased and we began to look forward eagerly to a day not too far hence when we would leave old Eaton Raptds for a day One by one the clays passed by and the teachers began to th1nk they wouldnt be able to l1ve wtth us much longer Instead of becomlng somber and dlgntfted as most Sentors had done before us we be came more norsy and bolsterous and less conslderate or so 1t seemed to everyone around us How ever we were really so full of excltement we Just couldnt keep tt to ourselves Soon fronted wtth the Annual Baccalaureate another supper and the trtp we dug 1n deter mtned that we would be remembered perhaps as the no1s1est but also as the most w1ll1ng to work and the most 1ndustr1ous class that had ever passed out through the doors for the last trme Although we now look Wllh eagerness toward the day when we shall walk wlth d1gn1ty up those steps and recelve our dlplomas then truly a part of the wrde world we are stlll a llttle sad and lone some already for the happy school days we know we shall never agaln expertence THE END , I I - I I .
