Belle. sophomore As our enioyable vacation came to a close and we sensed the crispness of the Autumn air again, the advent of the new school year returned most of the previous year's Freshmen to Cranwell. After renewing our old friendships and greeting new acquaintances, we settled down to the business of the year. Fr. Sullivan joined us on our conquest of Gaul with Caesar, while Mr. Fitzpatrick, S.J. opened new vistas in English and Mr. Rooney illustrated geometric figures. Mr. Flanagan and Mr. Butera collaborated in the interesting pano- rama of U.S. History. Returned to office in the class elections were our President Brian Payne, our Veep Biff Mullins, Larry Dunn, secretary, and a newcomer as class dues collector, Jim Noon of neighboring Stockbridge. High on the exemption list for mid-year exams were our scholars Ira Mendleson, Mike Conlon, Al Gehring, Mauricio Campos and John Duclayan. On the Varsity pigskin eleven, Biff Mullins starred as halfback. Brian Payne scored all the TDs for the JV football team, assisted by Jim Noon, Jerry Murray, John Codey and Joel Baldwin. Al Siblesz was our leading Varsity Soc- cer stalwart and John Codey sparked the JV Bas- ketball team. Noteworthy additions to the Varsity Hockey squad were Biff Mullins, Brian Payne, Jerry Murray, Doug Murphy, Eddie Carroll and Bill Shepard. Everything considered, it was a good year, for which we wish to thank all those, faculty and students alike, who contributed to our enjoyment of it and to the profit we derived from it. We also extend our blessings and best wishes to the Class of '59, as they become representatives of Cran- well in the world around us.
