Aspirations on and off the Court Stealing, guarding, and dribbling are all words that have their own individual meanings. But they also can be associated as terms in basketball. ln Junior Varsity and Frosh basketball those terms were applied and used in practice and the actual games. The two teams worked hard to get ready for their games by practicing diligently after school and on Saturdays. They had strong desires to win and to individually do well. Sometimes the J.V. team would scrimmage against the varsity. Coach Smith had enthusiastically expressed this idea about the J.V. team: If anything they were the most motivated most capable, and most ambitious group of athletes I've ever coached. I had to kick them out of the gym after practice. For the frosh team there were no regular starting line ups but instead, the names changed for each game. That way everyone had a chance to play. The J.V, team had a starting line up of five players and as the game progressed other players were substituted in. Each player has fulfilled his assignment on the court, said Eric Treese, junior. Both of the teams showed their industrious spirit when they played their games. They tried hard to concentrate and to be successful against other teams. They learned the True meaning of stressful situations and they made the best of it. The season isn't as well as we hoped but we are making progress. voic- ed Curt Werwinski, freshman. The freshman team had thirteen members and the Junior Varsity had twelve ninejunlors and three sophomores. At prac- tice the teams did a lot of running combined with quickness and strengthened drills. The practices were said to be tough but enjoyable. The Colt Frosh were overmatched in most games - but seldom outfought, stated Coach Andersen about his team that gave their games a toughness that couIdn't be matched. Freshman Basketball - Top raw: Scott Okabayashi, Robert Jackson, John Zanotti, Coach Andersen, Curr Werwinski, Mark Dodson, Scott Hurvitz. Front row: Chad Bruns, Paul Stanton, Bernard Leopheart, Damon Hendricks, Craig Bauer, Ron Brown. 90 J.V.!Frosh Basketball
