As a HERO member, Missy Ogden, senior, not only used class time to learn, but also to socialize, Jobs Acquired Through Program Involvement Child care, fashion design, or a career in in- dustry were only a few of the fields a student could pursue in Home Economics Related Oc- cupations CHEROD or Industrial Cooperative Educations. CICED. HERO was a great way to learn skills that were important to students' future careers. The club, which had 20 members, worked hard to raise money for an Employer Appreciation Banquet, a Teacher Appreciation Event during HERO week, and to help pay the way of the students to a Leadership Conference in Tucson. Some of the activities they had were candy sales, balloon message sales, football and Colt sales at football games, a Christmas party for the elderly, and HERO workers participated in the Cerebral Palsy Telethon. ICE or VICA CVocational Industrial Clubs of America? was the club to join if a student was in- terested in a career in industry. To qualify for ICE, a student had to be a senior with good leader- ship qualities. HERO and ICE helped teach students leader- ship and social skills, community involvement, and they developed a sense of responsibility, AA I-IEROIICE fu. t C. .. .1-X , ,- HERO - Top row: Terry May, Mike Vargas, Brenda Bossong, Helen Guebara, Jean McLaughlin, Loni Diann Langford, Muriel Madson, Bill Albert.
