On his own time, during Christmas break, he spent three days painting and remodel- ing the darkroom. The darkroom is now completely black: this helps reduce the reflection of light. ln addition, B.J. rear- ranged and strengthened shelves, re- placed cabinet doors, assembled new shelves and helped improve the dark- room in many other ways. We appreciate your help B.J. Thank You! Photo by Brown

That was a task for the pho- tographers, because they were all very inexperienced, there were no returning pho- tographers. Some of them were familiar with darkroom techniques, while they lacked experience on our campus or with some of the different kinds of cameras that they had to use. The photographers were very dedicated and eager to learn. They spent long hours developing film, making copy sheets, printing pictures, and of course taking pictures. Many of those hours were during free hours, weekday nights, and weekend after- noons. The photographers were: Carrie Davis, Photo Editor, Bill Brovm, Melissa Benner, Neil Schockner, David Lewis and Brian Baribeau. 'lEven though the photog- raphers had problems all year long, we still had fun, said Bill Brown. DURING A WORKNIGHT, Head Pho- tographer Carrie Davis shows the feelings that every staffer and pho- tographer feels at one time or an- other. 90 425322

by Veronica Thomas aacdiugbnud Aigkafemp' HI'd like to thank the school and faculty for their support, because when we travel we represent every- one at Coronado, not just our- selves, said Mr. Ed Meier. The Coronado Dons Marching Band has been directed by Mr. Meier for the past five years. The band consisted of 184 members and 15 staff members. The drum majors were Leslie Franklin and Shiela Byrd. The band did very well at their performances this year. They re- ceived a superior rating at NAU Band Day and hosted an invita- tional. At the Grand Nationals in Indiana, the band placed 17th out of47. Also, the band won superior with distinction at state. They were the first band in the history of Ari- zona to win one pluses in each category. The special categories they won were: Drum Majors, Marching, Music, Percussion, and Auxillary. Preparation for events like these included choosing music and find- ing out when tryouts were sched- uled. For the band, the perfor- mances also meant long hours of practice. Members practiced dur- ing the summer in the morning, at night, and at home, along with all- day practices on Saturdays. The marching band was a good experience for everyone involved and people interested in band were encouraged to join. MR. ED MEIER, band director, gives an in- spirational speech to the band members.
