The Yellow Iackets, in the three years since the organization was founded, has made out- standing progress in school service and recognition. Since the Yellow Iackets is a service club, one of its main activities is ushering at football and basketball games. Its members are also on duty in the halls throughout the year. The social end of the club's program was highlighted by an initiation skating party early in March. Five freshmen braved the initiation ceremonies into the club and were then escorted by the rest of the club members into the Winter Gardens to ice skate. Mr. Martinez and Mr. Kenney, faculty sponsors of the club, accompanied the ice skating party. As an instance of club service in action, the Yellow Iackets were appointed to head an open house committee on open house night for parents. They acted as guides and directed visitors to various departments. Club officers through the year 1949-50 were Ernest Rogers, presidentg Carl Pejsa, vice-presi- dentg Chris Rubel, secretaryg and Bob Lietz, sergeant at arms.

The Cougar Knights is an organization that is made up of twelve upper classmen, six juniors and six seniors. These boys are nominated and elected from the Boys' Org. When they are elected as juniors they are automatically members when they become seniors. Clyde Crew is Sir Knight or president and Mr. Sturges is the adviser. The Cougar Knights perform such duties as supervising the cleaning of the C, sharing the hall monitor service with the Yellow Iackets, and helping usher the games. The organization takes trips every year over week ends or special holidays. Some of the trips were to places like Hoover Dam, the Sierras, Ienks Lake, the beach, a four day trip to Yosemite, and many other worthwhile places.
