THE GLORY OF A HARD-FOUGHT VICTORY The grandest event of any homecoming is without a doubt the Homecoming Dance. The elegant Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton-Chicago Hotel set the roman- tic scene for The First Hundred Years. The high point of the evening came after dinner when President Byrd crowned a radiant Ira Lake the Centennial Homecoming Queen. Ira, beautifully dressed in a pink print gown of African style, was presented with a trophy and a bouquet of roses. Trophies were given to the members of Ira ' s court. The rest of the evening was devoted to dancing to the music of Morris Ellis and his 15 piece orchestra. It was a most enjoyable affair, not to be forgotten, not for another one hundred years. A free throw by Mel Agee puts the Colonels back in the lead.
