J if 12 Q Year s First Frollc Pageant Day one of the highlights of Central s year began with spirited yells from the student body ringing loud and clear through the arena at the traditional pep fest Initiation of new cheerleaders chmaxed many months of anxiety Surprised and excited Nancy Nor dhus Xalli Osxs ald Sharon DAm1co and Shari Koory were called to the stage to attempt embarassing and impossible tasks Following the songs yells and skits which were the featured attractions of the program the students assembled outside the auditorium for the snake dance which proceeded through the streets of down town Aberdeen After a series of school cheers at the post office the crowd returned to the school grounds for the roaring bonflre Centralites again cheered until their throats were hoarse and the fire dwmdled to ashes Suspense mounted high as students gathered in the theater for the big moment ot Pageant Day The crowning of uctn L irol Peterson and Xlarshall Tom Dahl by the royalty of 57 anet Hunstad and Chuck XVolsky brought resounding applause from the audlence The Cl1StI'1lJllt10I'l of Pageant Day book lets concluded the assembly The time for the plrade was rapldly approaching and all floats received their final touches Due to the strong gusts of wind xery few homeroom masterpieces remained intact for the final ludgmg Xliss Rudds seniors and Nlr Fishers Juniors captured homeroom float honors but vielded the sweep stakes to NIr Johnsons ambitious sophomores A huge crowd lining NIa1n Street greeted the floats and carried much enthusiasm to the stadium for the afternoon game The Juniors defeated the Sophomores 20 0 in a thrilling exh1b1t1on Queen Carol was rox ally escorted onto the turf of the gridiron and there saluted by Centrals Band and the large crowd of spectators. just the right amount of flavor was added when the Eagles racked the Madison Bulldogs 40-1. The perfect end for a perfect homecoming was the gala Pageant Day Dance held in the civic arena. The royalty and their subjects danced to the music of john Tavlor and His orchestra. Indeed it xv as a dav long to be remembered remembered through the pictures on the following pages. Remembered - Pageant Day 1958.
