Literature Committee VVith the idea that good reading is a must, the Lit- erature Committee compiles lists of excellent titles, with authorsg exhibits reviews and criticisms, pro and con, for the best sellers, and aids the neighborhood druggists in ridding their shelves of inde- cent literature. During Book VVeek the main lobby takes on the at- mosphere of a small library as the group arranges its dis- play ot books, pamphlets, and magazines which should interest Catholic students. t. Hilda Guild hlembers of the girls, art classes, under the patronage of St. Hilda, provide a neat and pleasing chapel, at Cen- tral, for our Lord and His Blessed Mother. This group prepares the sanctuary for lXIass, lays out the vestments for the priests, arranges the chapel for Bene- diction every First Friday, and is responsible for the altars during retreat and the hiay Convocation. t. John Berchmans Society This society offers its mem- bers an opportunity to serve daily Mass and First Friday lienediction in the school chapel, to participate in the annual retreat, and to take part in the hlay Convoca- tion. TUDE T PIRITUAL CUUNCIL To develop the spirituality of its members and to make them practice religious ideals and Christian principles in everyday lite is the aim of the Student Spiritual Council. - Five correlating committees comprise the Council-the St. -lohn Bcrchman Sanc- tuary Society, the liucharistic hltarian Committee, the Apostolic Committee, the Literature Committee, and the St. Hilda Guild. Through membership in any of these organizations Central students have the opportunity of sanctifying their souls. Apostolic Committee UGO teach all nations . . ., Christ's message to the apos- tles, is the theme behind the activities of Central's Apos- tolic Committee. To carry out this theme, the organization sponsors a Nlission Day, held once a month, which opens with lllass and Holy Communion followed by specific discus- sions in the religion classes, and is climaxed by a general meeting where plans are formed. Eucharistic- Marian Committee Composed of interested students, the Eucharistic- Iarian Committee desires to increase in all Centralites a deep devotion to our Eucharistic Lord and His Blessed lllother. The main work of this organization is the promotion of attendance at daily lllass and the daily recitation of the rosary, espe- cially during October and lllay. lts chief activity is the annual May Convoca- tion.
