CENTENARY COLLEGE CHOIR Beginning with its traditional training camp at Hodges Gardens in early September, the Centenary College Choir launched a banner year of television and travel representing Shreveport and Centenary College from the steamy swamps of South Louisiana to the ice-bound plains of Nebraska. Starting with fifteen new faces in the total forty-five, the choir gained continuing prestige with its debut concert, Rhapsody in View staged for the first time in the new Shreveport Civic Theater. The year con- tinued with a series of monthly television shows on KTBS-TV sponsored by Southwestern Electric Power Company, and a featured role in the weekly broadcasts of the National Protestant Hour. The annual mid- semester tour was highlighted this year with a special performance at the National Convention of Soil and Water Conservation Districts in New Orleans. In March, the group spent a week touring the Great Plains with special concerts at MacPherson College in Kansas and at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. Along with its tours, the choir presented seasonal concerts at Christmas and Easter and will wind up the year with a Songs by Summer Starlight presentation at Hodges Gardens. On all its concert tours, the choir was greeted with packed audiences and favorable comment. In the words of Margaret MacDonald, Amusements Editor of The Shreveport Journal, As long as the choir brings back such high praise for the college and community, both can be assured of a bright future. Shreveport ' s Singing Ambassadors have given freely of their time and talent to perform an invaluable service to Centenary College by presenting an image of clean-cut intelligence both at home and on the road. 63
