Coach Fred Davidson, the winningest coach at Caprock, watches intently as his Longhorn matmen defend their victorious tradition. ,Caprock's wrestling team, under the direction of Coach Fred David- son compiled the best record of wins ot any previous Caprock wrestling team. Our matmen had a 7-l season and defeated Tascosa to become city co-champions with Tascosa. Usual winners on the wrestling team were Ceasar Esca- lante, Rudy Barrera, Johnny Palmer, Jerry Higgins, Hector Mendoza, and Tommy Sanders. -This year was the year in which the Caprock wrestling team came into its own. The mighty matmen, through inspiration and courage, came out with the greatest wres- tling season since Caprock's open- ing. Alex Morales gains valuable points by reversing Amarillo's Chris Storm.

Five Outstanding Wrestlers Win City Johnny Palmer Caesar Escalantie 'r-r, Rudy Barrera Caprock's T968-69 Wrestling Team has brought Caprock its first wrestling championship since the school's opening. The Longhorns took an early lead in the first day of competition by placing 13 men in the semi-finals. Caprock had fa- vorites in Caesar Escalante, Johnny Palmer, Rudy Barrera, Charles Math- is, and Alex Morales. All of these favorites, Wayne Burris, and Tom Cannedy fought their way to the finals. The Longhorns also placed five men in the consolation finals to add to their margin of victory. Besides Caprock's five men that placed in city, there were other out- standing winners. Hector Mendoza, Jerry Higgins, Frank Watts, and James Husky captured third place in the city tournament. Mike Cates took fourth place honors. Revenge, Achievements, and hon- or was gained by the Wrestling Team of T968-69. The 'Horns ended a regular season with a 7-l mark and tied Tascosa for the season Wayne Burris championship.
