GIRLS BASKETB LL Rachel displays much hang time The Girls Basketball team did not fare as well this year as it has in the past, but it did produce strong All-Stars and a strong sense of team spirit. This year's team was led by senior captain Tammy lones who was also the Suburban League All-Star. The team also consisted of seniors Nicole Pacheco, Rachel Collanino, and Edith Piere who helped lones pace the action for the Rindge. Their victories were short, but this year was special because many of the girls have been playing basketball all their lives together and this year marks the end of an era. As stated by Audrey Cabral, this year was a learning and building year for the future teams of Rindge and Latin. Many new and promising iunior varsity and some returning varsity players will make fast action next year. Good luck girls. l l Top rowll-ri Coach Audrey Cabral, Maria Mantia, Sarah Chapin, isanitha Moore, Stephanie Crayton, Linda Frisoli, and Asst. Coach Belloste. BOYS INDOOR TRACK One of the many continuing things at Rindge is the fact that we have the best track teams in the state! Once again, Coach McCarthy and his boys have brought a Class A trophy and the All-State Championship back to Rindge and Latin. The team finished with an overall record of 7-1. The captains of this mighty team were Shawn Burke, Scott Cody, and lamalh Prince. Each of the captains were also All-Stars this year with the help of another teammate, Randy Barrows. The team was manned by a talented squad of seniors including Farousse Negga, Iason Greene, and the three All-Stars. This year marks the end of Cody's, Burke's, and Prince's domination of track at the high-school level. All three have been dominating in track for the past four years, and with the help of talented underclassmen, the team should continue strong. As captain Shawn Burke said, They all did their best to pull together and to win in the clutch. Shaw n on the IUMP N ,..1., ,Wm KV. , aw Nice form Gabe The power of Rindge and Latin. Bottom rowll-rl Devon Thomas, Alex Schrebler, Dan Nahas, Earl Williams, Kevin Paulding, and lake Murray. Missing: Damon Banks, Bruce Martins, Lorenzo Bailey, and Coach Terry Matthews. The Boys Basketball team for 1988 seem lust like a carbon-copy of other, their real champions. Basketball has always been a strong tradition at RSL, but its intensity and drive seem to grow each year. This year's team was certainly in that category. The team was captained by senior Dan Nahas who has been a warrior for four years. The team also consisted of some of the best senior material in the Suburban League. Seniors lake Murray, Earl Williams, Alex Schrebler, Devon Thomas, and Kevin Paulding led the team to an impressive record of I2-8. The team was also not without its own individual All-Stars. This year's stars were Dan, lake, and Earl. Even with these individual stars, the team had a strong sense of spirit and friendship which is best stated by senior Alex Schrebler,, We achieved more than anyone thought we would!
