Finishing the season with a 10-2 record, Butler High's baseball team tied Dover for the first place in the Lakeland Conference. All-State honors went to John Jansen and Greg Mazza. Jansen sparked the Bulldogs with a batting average of .352 and Jim Alise followed closely with a .343 average. With seven lettermen and strong reserves returning, Mr. Ingold hopes to take the Conference again in'55.

Rich Wotruba, the Lakeland A y- Conference pole vault champion, tied for I third place in the state naeet and I - - ' set a new schoo recor at 11'. RM Wotmba fiymg high Charles Anthony, the Morris County and Conference high jump champion, tied the Lakeland record at 5'9 , and broke Butler's record at 5'10 . Jim Sehulster set a new school record by running 880 yards in 2:07.6.
