Senior ati0nalH0n0r Soviet Scholarship, leadership, character, service, and citizenship are the qualities upon which membership in the Senior National Honor Society is based. At the induction service in February the Society Welcomes those students whose membership has been approved by the faculty council. Under the direction of Miss Filipponi the Society has completed its eleventh successful year. Elections were held at the first meeting with the following members elected: Patricia Baronick, President: Betty Schulte, Vice-President, Pamela Tyler, Secretary: and Joyce Scruppi, Treasurer. At each monthly meeting, informative and entertaining programs are presented. These have included such things as: a tea honoring the faculty, travel slides, and enrichment programs. To report the news truthfully without opinion and to voice the opinions of the student body are the main purposes of the Union Hi-Lite, amonthly newspaper published by the Journalism class. Under the guidance of the advisor, Mr. Brozier, and the help of the editor- in-chief Pam Tyler, the staff gathered material for each issue. The other editors of the paper areg Feature, Anita Guyog News, Joyce Scruppi: Business, Judy Kuziorg Sports, James Muscaro. Junior Honor Society The Junior National Honor Society, sponsored by Mr. Hanna, strives to promote higher standards among the students in the eighth, ninth, and tenth grades. The first meeting of the society was held in September.'The following officers were elected: Patty Edwards, President: Candy Vladich, Vice-Presi- dentg Barbara Nokovich, Secretary: Robin Russell, Treasurer. In February, new members were inducted into the society. A program was presented to the student body entitled, 20 Years From Now. Recommendation for membership is based on the following: Q15 Scholarship - 3.0 average or higher. Q23 Service - willingness to serve with honor, obedience, and deter- I mination. Q31 School Citizenship - honoring the rights and privileges of others. Q45 Leadership - capability of promoting and carrying out accepted programs.
