Football The New Team crushed the Laredo Tigers 41-0. A great passing game was Displayed. It seemed as though the Eagle ends and backs just could not Miss the passes. Laredo 's flashy backs Were stopped in their tracks by the Eagle forward wall. But after that victory Gloom entered the Eagle camp. Alamo lleights protested Captain Wallace Murray's Age eligibility, and the school records showed That Murray was ineligihleg therefore The Eagles were forced to forfeit these Victories over Hallandale, Laredo, and Alamo Heights. The .latter game was Thrown out ol' the league. The Eagles then tricked the Corpus Christi Buccaneers. The Eagles outplayed the Buccaneers for the first three quarters. Batehelor's brilliant punting lfor Corpus saved The Buccaneers a great many times. The Eagles slipped in the fourth quarter. The new Eagle team Defeated the Del Rio High Wildcats in that Foreeful dedication. Del Rio was smothered With end-runs. The Eagles then swooped down upon the llarlandale Indians, 25-2. The Indians were initiated into Class A football. During the early stages of the game the Wai' Birds Did not seem to be able to function, but They soon snapped out of it, and began To pile up the score on the VVarri0rs. ln their iirst elash with the Alamo Heights Mules, the Eagles displayed a reversal Oi' form. The fighting Mules set the Eagles Back with an unpleasant 14-0 defeat. A eompleted pass, and :1 block punt N1-tted the Mules their margin of victory. Their game was voluntarily forfeited To Braekenridge on the grounds of An ineligible player. But the Eagle Machine was revamped after that Unpleasant defeat. Football The Austin High Maroons invaded The Eagles, nest, but were turned baek By a lieart-breaking 10-7 defeat. The Maroons literally showered the Eagles with passes for substantial gains. The Austin bunch seored early in the First quarter by a series of brilliant passes. In the last eight minutes of play, the Eagles' desire to defeat the Maroons For the fifth successive year led them To launeh a terrifie drive. Successive Runs by Connie Smith and Gil Pyka Carried the ball to scoring distance. A Pass from Gil Pyka to C. Flinn netted The first rally. After another series O 1' runs, a long pass from Pyka to Frost plaeed the hall on Austinis 20 yard line. With but one play left In the game, U. D.
