Besides taking part in all of the con- certs and other school functions, they marched with the con- cert band in the half-time performances at the games, and played in the pepbands. Under the direction of Mr. Ackermann, the Cadet Band gained the unity that is so important to a band. Officers this year were Mark Talbot, presi- dent, Jim Ackermann, vice-president, Gloria Nefzger, secretary-treasurer, Mary Zimmer- man, librarian, and Beth Bernhard, assistant librarian. -l23-

Chorus Provides Vocal Training. The primary purpose of Chorus is that of providing vocal training for the participants. Under the guidance of Mr. Beh- rens, the chorus learns to understand and appreciate many different kinds of music, as well as to interpret it. The Chorus participates in many of the school functions, including the Christmas Concert, the Spring Nightclub, and the Mid-Winter Concert. This year, Chorus and Choir added their voices to the Homecoming half-time show. Chorus officers this year were Dave Grieve, president, John Miller, vice-president, Barb Connell, secretary-treasurer, and Beth Grieve, librarian with Wanda Selg assistant.

With the band in the background, Denise Pederson narrates The Night Before Christmas. L t The Arion Singers present a child's view of Christmas. Christmas Concert Sounds and Symbols of Christmas, Bothell High's traditional Christ- mas Concert vvas held on December 22. A highlight of the Concert Choir's selections was The'Song of Christmas, narrated by Larry Degraff. Tvvas the Night Before Christmas, narrated by Denise Pedersen, was among the favorites played by the Concert Band. A special feature during the concert was the Sandpaper Ballet, a modern dance depicting Pinocchio coming to life, danced by Su- zanne La Duke, accompanied by the band. The traditional finale, Hallelujah Chorus, was performed with the ioint effort of the chorus, choir, and concert bancl, with more than 50 former B.H.S. choir members coming frpm the audience to join in. The art department provided the backgrounds for the concert, and the stage crew was responsible for erecting them. Members of Loyalty Club served as hostesses for the evening.
