OUR SCHOOL MONTH BY MONTH SEPTEMBER School opens. Underclassmen nobly vow to study hard this year. Seniors don't. Among the couples who seem to have gotten together over the vacation are Doris Seward and Bill Curry, Mary Frances Scott and George Blair, and Nancy Snyder and Bill Matthews. Seniors resume politics with the result that Bob Bridges is Gothic Editor and Doris Seward Business Manager. Office says that school will close at 5:00 P. M. Studes with ten different activities won- der how they'll ever get all of it in. OCTOBER Everyone goes around wanting to know who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, and various other Big Bad Personages about school. Blue Triangle organizes with l25 members lSeward is presidentl which is a good deal more than the Hi-Y. The girls say that there should be enough boys to go around at least. Seniors Standup for class in first party of year. Bicycles built for three are advertised for these senior men who have two gals. Teachers patrol halls to prevent loitering. Meetings of the Girls' Gossip Society are post- poned indefinitely. Blue Tri and Hi-Y hold Hallowe'en party at the Abe Martin Lodge. Majority of boys come clad as farmers. No cracks, please! NOVEMBER Mary Stuart Hayes and Garwood ludah star in Proscenium play, Once ln a Lifetime . Gypsy atmosphere pervades school. Gothic pictures are taken. Club minded students spend lots of time on the front steps. Football heroes fre still going strong and winning games with commendable regularity. Senior play, The Wild Westcotts , pre- sented with such notables in the cast as Mary Ellen Thornton, Isabel Penrod, Betty Sadbury, Doris Seward, Betty Bender, Helen Vv'ykoff, Mary Sturdevant, Mariorie Finkbiner, lohn Nurre, William Curry, Bobbie Leonard. George Blair, Robert Magill, Robert McLean, Ralph Elmo Murray. Senior sponsor Myers seen dis- playing with pride the sign which told the public that all seats were full at the first per- formance. DECEMBER George Blair, Devon Scherer, Kate Benns, Bill Curry, Doris Seward are committee for Christ- mas Drive which has become an annual custom. School raises money and contributes food and toys for needy families. Drive goes over in a manner worthy of B. H. S. Eighty-seven School mourns death of Daddy Mc- Caughan. His loss can never be replaced. Vacation sends kiddies home to rest up after arduous duties at school. Halls and classrooms are gay with decorations. There are rumors of a rift in the Curry- Seward pair. Senior Sponsor Myers marries. IANUARY Students rest up after arduous vacation. Mr. Tirey elected president of Indiana State Teachers' College. Mr. Vogel named to suc- ceed him, Mr. W. F. Totten appointed head of Math Department. Curry-Seward rift becomes bust-up. Bill is seen with Martha Martz, Ellen Alexander, Phyllis Landis, and others. Doris is seen with Bill Mathers, Buster Purcell, Bobby Leonard and Able Rothrock. Seventeen students graduate at end of semester. FEBRUARY Semester starts and students renew New Year's resolutions. Mary Evelyn Fowler's was to lose more pounds, and Roger Curry's to keep his hair combed. Comic valentines make their appearance. Optimist columnist is threatened but she says this has been going on as long as she can remember and her memory is famed. lor notoriousl Most people agree that Gloria Allen and Dick Schmalz make a cute couple. O'Hara, composer of K-K-K-Katie , gives convo. Albert Goodrich admits that this is his favorite song. Nurre and Sudbury seen together. MARCH Bloomington wins sectional for first time in eleven years. Betty Hutton and Mary Lou Gil- lum annex two Martinsville players. Bloomington loses regional. Cecilia Hendricks and jimmy Wray split up, Dittrich still seen with Pickles. Righty and Lefty with Virginia and Glodine and Fred Davis confesses a liking for Evelyn Headley. Debate squad wins district but is put out in zone. Track and spring football start. Coach Mumby is father of twins. Lucky Seniors become members of Honor Society. Old joke about On2ry Society bobs up again. Entire school and community roll in aisles of auditorium during Clarence .
