HI-Y The Hi-Y club is a group of senior, junior, and sophomore boys Whose purpose is to Hcreate, maintain, and extend throughout the school and community high standards of Christian Characterf' The four standards are represented on the pin of the organization by four C's', engraved upon it. These standards are: clean mind, clean spirit, clean living, and clean sportsmanship. lvleetings are held every two Weeks on Nlonday night, and one meeting a month is a 'Lbean feed. lVr. McAllister and Mr. Harkless are the advisers, and under their leadership much is accomplished for the members. One of the outstanding activities of the group this year Was the Induction ceremony, which Was conducted by the Rockford Hi-Y, at the Presbyterian Church early in the fall. B CLUB The HB club is an Organization made up of high school boys who have earned major or minor letters in football, basketball, or track. Student managers and cheer-leaders earning awards are also eligible. The purpose of this group is to promote the interest of the school and community in athletics, to encourage better athletics, and to practice good sportsmanship. After the boys have received their letters, they are initiated into the club, and during this time they are subjected to all kinds of abuses by the Older members. During the basketball season, members of the club act as ushers at the games. The group is always Willing to help in any undertaking, and they play a large part in every athletic activity. It is considered an achievement and an honor to belong to this club. One of the main events Of the year is the annual MBU club dance, which is held each spring for the members and their guests and also the alumni members. BOOSTER CLUB The Booster Club is one of the most active organizations in the high school. The members support athletics and promote many other activities as Well. ljarly in the year the club has charge ofthe freshman initiation at which time the freshman members of the organization are chosen. Each year four freshmen are elected, and once elected, the students continue to be members of the club during the remaining years in school. The freshmen chosen this year Were: Betty Shaw, Shirley Hamilton, Douglas Cormie, and Ray Conley. The club sells all the football tickets and season basketball tickets, and sponsors the annual football and basketball banquets. The group also has sponsored many assembly programs for the entire student body. Two of the big events of the year, the Homecoming dance and the Christmas dance, were sponsored by the Booster Club. The annual Booster Club Carnival, held each year in April, is one of the biggest undertakings of the club. The concessions, sponsored by the organizations and classes, helps to make it an outstanding affair.
