E li at p lsatiiiw ii , gl Board's Message to Students It is gratifying to the Board of Education to observe the interest manifested by the students of Batavia l-Iigh School in their quest for education. A splendid spirit is apparent. There evidently is harmony in a great degree in the relations between the student body and the faculty, with a hearty co-operation-which leads to the happy results that are attained, year after year. Obviously the students of Batavia High School realize and ap- preciate the numerous advantages afforded them by the city schools of Batavia. The taxpayers have been generous indeed in providing 1nea11s for the education of the young people of the district, carrying out in full form their desire to furnish facilities, Which, augmented by a large and efficient corps of instructors, enables the students to finish their high school course with credit and to prepare them, if they are looking forward to a collegiate course, for entrance to higher institutions of learning. Maintenance and operation of the public schools of Batavia demand a very large annual expenditure, but the money is devoted to so worthy a purpose and the accomplishments are so pronounced that very rarely is a word of protest or complaint uttered by a tax-roll contributor. Students themselves have much to do in creating the favorable sentiment which exists with respect to Bataviats school system. They have a responsibility that cannot be shifted. Unless they are punctual, regular in attendance, diligent, and ambitious to make the most of their opportunities, the schools will not continue to have the deservedly high reputation they now enjoy. The taxpayers have done their part, the faculty is alert, and the Board of Education is watchful, but no one of these groups, nor all of them, can bring success to the educational system of Batavia. The whole-hearted aid of the students in making the schools of value to themselves and the community is essential. The Board of Education cordially congratulates the Class of '28, and the classes following, and extends its sincere wishes that the sons and daughters of B. H. S. may have long lives of usefulness, prosperity and happiness. 9
